SMASH-IT is an explosive all in 1 caffeine free pre-workout.
Please note: Beta-Alanine is one of the most effective natural pre-workout ingredients for increasing power output and combating fatigue; however, it may give some new users a slight tingly feeling. If you feel this when using SMASH-IT, then don’t worry, it’s normal and you’ll feel it less and less over time.

SMASH-IT is a premium pre-workout that contains only science backed ingredients. It mixes seamlessly, tastes great and works together to increase focus, power, endurance and recovery. A lot of pre-workouts nowadays are crammed full of cheap stimulants and have weak nutritional profiles. Your average pre-workout for example contains between 300-500mg of caffeine (that’s the equivalent of 4-6 espressos!). We’re not anti caffeine (there are times when we all need a bit of a kick), we’re just of the opinion that chugging 4-6 espressos before every session will wreak havoc on your adrenals, screw with your day to day energy and impact your long term health. When we designed SMASH-IT, we wanted it be a source of world class fuel that you could use all year round – and that’s what we believe we’ve got. SMASH-IT will give you a clean energy boost, a great pump and help take your training and gains to the next level – and best of all, it won’t give you any jitters or energy crashes.
Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) have been shown to increase muscle growth and enhance performance in both explosive and endurance based exercise. It is for this reason that every serving of SMASH-IT contains 6g of premium instantised BCAAs at the optimum 2:1:1 ratio of leucine, isoleucine and valine. Despite certain claims that more leucine should be taken due to its key function in muscle growth signalling, studies consistently show that the greatest results in muscle growth are seen when a 2:1:1 ratio of leucine, isoleucine and valine are taken.
BCAAs are so popular because they work through a number of different pathways. Firstly, BCAAs provide a readily available source of energy to working muscles. They also preserve glycogen and increase fat oxidation. Taken together, this means BCAAs help you work out harder of longer by providing more energy, conserving existing energy and utilising stored energy.
As well as reducing fatigue, BCAAs positively affect hormone balance. Ingesting BCAAs before exercise has been shown to increase testosterone levels (anabolic hormone) and decrease cortisol (catabolic hormone) during and after the workout. This means that after taking BCAAs you’ll be in a much better place hormonally from a muscle building perspective.
What’s even more exciting is how research has begun to demonstrate how BCAA’s actually signal for the body to increase muscle mass. Obviously, this signalling to stimulate muscle growth will only be effective if the full spectrum of amino acids are present. Consuming enough whole protein during the day and after exercise is essential as you can’t build muscle without the correct building blocks.Combing SMASH-IT before a workout with a combination of performance whey protein and a serving of BCAAs after a workout, will give you an excellent nutritional basis for maximising muscle growth and repair.
Despite being a relative newcomer in the sports nutrition world, Citrulline Malate is rapidly growing in popularityas a pre-workout supplement. Studies have repeatedly shown that Citrulline Malate, which is a combination of the natural amino acid L-Citrulline and the organic salt Malate, improves performance through a number of different mechanisms.
L-Citrulline is a great nitric oxide booster which means that it enhances blood flow to the muscles. This has a positive effect on both endurance and explosive performance due to the increase in nutrient and oxygen delivery. The rate at which waste toxins such as lactic acid are removed is also increased; reducing fatigue and helping the body sustain higher work rates forlonger periods of time.
Malate works in conjunction with L-Citrulline because it plays an important role in the tricarboxylic (or TCA) cycle, increasing ATP production during high intensity exercise. In a nut shell, increases in Malate will lead to an increase in energy production. This has been demonstrated by studies which have found significant increases in explosive power and the amount of reps performed to failure by advanced weight lighters as a result of ingesting Citurlline Malate prior to exercise. However, Citrulline Maslate isn’tjust a performance enhance, anotherstudy found that it decreased post workout muscular soreness by up to 40%.
The prospect of increasing muscular pumps, endurance and explosive power while delaying fatigue is just something you can’t ignore if you’re looking to maximise performance. It’s for this reason that SMASH-IT contains 6g of 100% pure Citrulline Malate at the optimum 2:1 ratio.
Creatine Monohydrate has been around for a long time. It’s one the most thoroughly researched supplements on the market and is known for significantly increasing muscle volume, strength, power, recovery and boosting high intensity performance. Many products have come and gone, but Creatine Monohydrate has remained due to its safety, cost effectiveness and results. You can be assured that nothing has been added or taken away during our production process and that our Creatine Monohydrate is 100% pure and of the finest quality.
Beta-Alanine is a non-essential amino acid famous for giving first time users a little tingle. However, as research continues to pile up, it’s now also becoming known as the go to ingredient for anyone seeking to improve performance in medium duration high intensity exercise.
Now it’s well established that creatine monohydrate is a great supplement for assisting short explosive bursts – for example, creatine supplementation is perfect for a powerlifter or javelin thrower performing low repetition explosive movements. However, after those initial bursts are over and fatigue starts to kick in, research has shown that Beta-Alanine really shines as a performance enhancer (especially in activities lasting more than 60 seconds).
The positive effects of Beta-Alanine are rooted primarily in its ability to increase muscle carnosine levels. Carnosine is one of the muscles primary defences against the build up of hydrogen ions during high intensity exercise. In a nut shell, hydrogen ion build up lowers muscle ph and is a major cause of muscular fatigue. Therefore, due to Beta-Alanine’s attenuating effect on hydrogen ion build up, it’s been shown to improve high intensity exercise performance, maximal power output, strength, training volume and aerobic capacity. In one study, supplementing 6g of Beta-Alanine for four weeks increased the punching force of amateur boxers by an amazing 20 times!
Like creatine, it takes a bit of time to for Beta-Alanine to exert its full effects. The studies that have shown performance improvements as a result of Beta-Alanine supplementation were usually preceded by a loading phase of some weeks. It’s therefore important to be supplementing it regularly to help your muscle carnosine levels rise over time (studies have shown that carnosine levels can rise significantly in as little as two weeks). We’ve included 2g of Beta-Alanine in SMASH-IT in order to help you reap the amazing performance benefits of this supplement.
Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid that provides most of the building blocks for the brain’s 3 stimulatory catecholamines. Studies have shown that consuming Tyrosine before physical activity canincrease brain neurotransmitter concentrations and improves the functioning and recovery of the central nervous system.Together this implies that taking Tyrosine before a workout increases overall cognition, reaction time, attention and focus while delaying the onset of fatigue.
Another thing to consider is that under high levels or exertion and stress, cortisol levels rise and certain catecholamines begin to drop. This stress response can work independently of physical fatigue and can be responsible for that groggy, lethargic feeling you can sometime feel despite being well fed and well rested. Additional Tyrosine may help decrease this stress response, reducing cortisol build up and attenuate neurotransmitter decline. Not only does this make Tyrosine beneficial during intense workouts, but also during the build up to competitive events where nerves and stress can sometimes kick in prematurely. There is a reason why the best performers are usually the ones that can stay the most relaxed.
So in order to help delay fatigue while boosting your cognitive performance, decision making, reaction time and focus, SMASH-IT contains 2g of Tyrosine per serving
Taurine is an organic compoundfound naturally in the brain, skeletal muscle, heart and other tissues. Taurine is one of the most abundant amino acids in the body and is responsible for a number of important health related functions.Fun fact, it’s also the second most abundant amino acid in the central nervous system (CNS). We’ve decided to include 1g of Taurine in SMASH-IT for the reasons explained below.
Researchers believe that consuming additional Tuarine before a workout can improve aerobic performance, improve muscle force contraction and due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, counter the oxidative stress largely responsible for muscle damage, soreness and injury. This means that additional dietary Taurine may not only enhance performance, but also promote post exercise recovery and prevent exercise induced muscle damage.
Taurine is a popular ingredient in a number of energy drinks which has lead to the misconnection that it stimulates the brain and gives you a buzz. This isn’t true. Taurine is actually more like a central nervous system depressant that inhibits the neurological processes contributing to anxiety or stress. It’s for this reason that you’ll often see it used in an attempt to mediate the nervousness and restlessness associated with large doses of caffeine – not that it really makes much difference when you’re consuming the mammoth 300-500mg caffeine servings found in most pre-workouts. From a calming and focusing perspective, Taurine has also been observed to reduce cortisol levels.
It’s for these reasons that we believe Taurine is essential to your pre-workout stack if you’re looking to maximise performance, improve recovery and maximise focus.
Why have we decided to omit caffeine from SMASH-IT when studies have shown that taking caffeine before exercise helps boost performance?
While we acknowledge that taking caffeine before exercise has some benefits, we believe that regularly consuming large amounts of it before sessions isn’t good for you. If you take a concentrated dose of 300-400mg – which is what’s in most caffeine based pre-workouts – you’ve just downed between 4-6 expressos.
Now we get it, if you’ve just pulled an all-nighter and you’ve got a gruelling leg session first thing, then 6 expressos might be pretty tempting (and yes, we agree that stimulant based pre-workouts might be handy for those rare occasions). However, that’s all they should be used for, if at all. So here are some of the reasons we’ve left caffeine out of our workout and why we believe chugging 4-6 expressos regularly before sessions is a bad idea:
Adrenal fatigue: Caffeine stimulates neuron activity in your brain. This sends a message to your pituitary gland which in turn stimulates your adrenal glands to pump out adrenaline and cortisol. This put’s your body into fight or flight mode and cranks your nervous system up to red alert. In a nut shell, downing 400mg of caffeine elicits the kind of adrenal response your body might go through if you were being chased by a 500lb Grizzly. Okay, a 500lb Grizzly might be a stretch, but you’ve got to ask yourself whether you really want to be putting this much stress on your adrenals on a regular basis – the answer of course is no, not unless you want to operate day to day like a zombie (and not one of those petrifying sprinters from 28 days later, no, we’re talking about the classic yawning grunters that do the 0.1mph hobble).
Dependence: For the vast majority of your sessions you should be training off of your own energy and willpower. If you’re always knackered and having to borrow energy from stimulants you’re going to become dependent on them – especially when they crash your day to day energy levels and you’re always feeling like crap. Seriously though, if you do it long enough, you’ll end up like a junky reaching for the pre-workout to get through couple of push-ups. In our opinion, dependence on anything other than a bullet proof mentality is shaky ground.
Addiction: Caffeine might be a powerful stimulant but it’s also highly addictive. Another thing to consider is that over time your body will build a tolerance to caffeine, and you’ll need to take more and more to get the same kind of buzz you used to get on smaller servings. This in turn places more stress on your adrenals and causes larger energy crashes – it’ a vicious cycle.
Physical effects: As you’re probably already aware, too much caffeine is associated with headaches, jitters, anxiety, confusion, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, muscle twitches, spams and insomnia. Not to mention that taking a concentrated dose of caffeine before an evening session is one of the best ways to guarantee one of the worst night’s sleep of your life.
Now don’t misunderstand us, we’re not advocating a complete ban on caffeine There are times when a bit of caffeine in your pre-workout can come in handy, we just don’t think it’s the best thing to be consuming regularly and in the amount that usually found in most stim certainly not a healthy long term and sustainable pre-workout choice.
